My instincts tell me they were bought out by EA.

I think they had a big design issue. From the aesthetics, the gameplay, the for the game. They made it known that they were developing the game to get “constructive criticism” from potential players, but they didn’t really listen to them.

It’s real disappointing all that work just goes to waste? Might as well release for free as play at your own risk lol or release as free assets for other creators to use and build on?

EA won that battle, it's a real shame but I do agree that the game was ugly but most importantly it had no soul/vibe in it..I hope they go from scratch and try again in the future having learn from this.

They should release it and maybe at least fans would fix this game or find ways to play it. This is such a shame 😕

I was disappointed. I love the sims but would love to play something different. To my knowledge there are no other games like sims to play. After so many years of one game, I’d love a change.

The game looked awful up until the very end. I think this is a good call.

I didn't like the way.This game looked either, but I was looking forward to trying it out.I really wish they had focused on the game itself instead of the detailed matters. But basically, what he had just said is the team got into a fight over detailed matters and decided to scrap the game to work on smaller projects.

Aka EA said “cancel the game and we will give you part royalties from stuff packs” 😂

There is one cool animation for the jungle gym called play pretend if your toddlers creativity is 3+ they imagine a whole bunch of stuff only they can see

I'd rather have a smaller game come out than not have one come out at all. This is why we're warned against over ambition. I'm extremely sad to hear about this but it can't be helped, hope the dev team can move on to greener pastures.

I am tired of this trend of giving male sims 1 thing, when female gets 12, like I know its exagerated, but still very close to the truth, and we need to start calling it out more and with the proper word: The Sims is misandry.

I knew this would happen.

Unfortunately I knew this was going to happen. It’s not an easy task to put out a quality game with no funding to back it. Especially something of this magnitude. It honestly may be in their best interest to sell the rights and let someone with proper funding produce it. Not the best option but I don’t see it happening on their terms alone.

High School Years is the best it’s not bad at all, it’s pretty good 👍 I love that Sims 4 Add on.

I didn't think Life By You would be a great success, and I don't think Paralives will be. Neither of those two games could be a good competition to The Sims games because they're not fun, they're too realistic. I believe a big part of The Sims success is the fact they're not too realistic, the cowplants and the occult sims and the Grilled cheese aspiration and Agnes Crumplebottom hitting you with her purse and all the other weird and ridiculous things in this game are what make it so fun and irreplacable.

I feel like in the beginning Sims 4 was an innovative labour of love, the devs tried hard to make something new and interesting with the resources they were given. Now, however the devs are like slaves, slaving away at the broken code by their slavemasters, the investors, shareholders, marketeers and other parasites that never in their miserable lives had played any Sims game at all. In the end, the game is not meant to be played, but to be bought over and over, so that the corporate profit line would forever go up.

While EA does not listen to its players, have tons of glitches. Most of the packs does not work and you let them win.

While it sucks because we were all looking forward to Life By You, I'd rather a project that just wasn't panning out properly be scrapped, shelved, or delayed than an unfinished or half assed game get launched when it shouldn't. Companies have gotten way too comfortable selling us broken and unfinished games and then "fixing" it with paid dlc. Hopefully Paralives works out because EA definitely needs the competition and we all deserve other options for the genre.

The game needed its own direction. I think it was almost too affected by the community response and lost its track. This shows how you don’t know the market or the player base you’re trying to sell. People play these games to either feel like god, or escape the real world and the stress it brings. I’m not gonna log into a life-sim and watch my character go to a 9-5 and replace cans on a shelf. That might be what folks on X say they want to see since everyone seemingly hates rabbitholes, but the same folks are not gonna be too impressed when they see a character’s day at work. Cause its as boring as real life. Just because people on X say they want to see something, doesn’t mean you have to implement it into your game because the superior player in the market lacks it. Ever thought maybe the Sims series have rabbitholes for a reason? Or their games have nice details but still not too detailed so you don’t get lost? (This excludes the catastrophe TS4 is of course)

Paradox has been absolutely destroying my favorite TTRPGs. The V5 books for Vampire the Masquerade is an absolute disaster and it breaks my heart.

Corporations and shareholders really are holding them back entertainment now at this point pretty much the only video games we really get any sort of budgets or get released are established franchises and it’s just how many different different expansion packs loop boxes, etc. they can do. TV shows are all going to streaming method of only releasing a handful of episodes no more long long form versions of shows. Movies are pretty much only books , IPS and sequels at this point. Very rare for them to really try something unique or new. In music it’s just whatever they can push out as quick as possible. No more building up an album or an artist these number one songs these days wouldn’t even be a top 40 song on the radio a decade ago. It feels like they have just gotten so scared of having a risk of having 20% of things fail and not be good that they are now only allowing 20% of anything to go through that they know will make money even if it’s not that inherently good it’s pretty sad. And this is how competition and quality goes downhill hand-in-hand.

They canceled "Life By You" because they saw how hard you shit on the Sims

It's fine it got canceled. Also the studio Paradox Tectonic got closed, which is also right. This game is in development for six years and still used stock footage from the Unity store as character model in a life sim game. And it's obvious they had no (good) designers. I already lost hope in this game like 6 months ago. I think they should do the same with Colossal Order. Or at least refund Cities Skylines 2, develop it for two more years and then re-release it like Cities Skylines 2.5. But I'm happy they don't repeat their mistake and don't release another flop for our money. I know it should be Early Access but still it was too bad and unfinished. Planting ugly plants with ugly animations by ugly character models without queue is too bad, EA or not.

Eh, I’m not surprised. It looked really unfinished in every clip I saw of it, and the fact that it kept getting delayed didn’t help. I think they got a little too excited about the game and announced it waaaaay too early, kinda shooting themselves in the foot. And btw. I’m personally not worried about Paralives. The game looks great so far, and they’re taking the time they need to develop it properly. They’ve also got a solid art style, and though I personally don’t like it much, it is distinct and appealing to most, so I don’t see it failing in the development stage.

this is really sad, they should've let the team work on it for longer, it's a giant open world life sim game, the development cycle should've been extremely long, the standards put on developers by their bosses are crazy. a game like this being worked on for 10 years actively should be normal.
